Steve is a native of Herefordshire who attended Hereford Sixth Form College as a student in the 1970s. Following a degree course and PGCE year at Leicester University he returned to Hereford to teach at Haywood, John Kyrle and, from 1984, at Hereford Sixth Form College. He is currently Head of General Studies and a tutor of Sociology.

Steve is married with two children and is a Parent Governor at Fairfield High School. In his 'spare' time he manages a small family farm, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, and takes a keen interest in agricultural and environmental issues. He is also interested in politics, is a frequent patron of the Courtyard Arts Centre and plays Phat (a somewhat obscure card game found only in the more traditional pubs of Herefordshire) for his local pub team.
